Vincent van Hensbergen
Welcome to my personal website!
I am a scientific employee at the Netherlands Forensic Institute, where I coordinate DNA research in criminal cases and am training to become a DNA expert.
I hold both a BSc and MSc in Biology, with a focus on molecular and cellular biology, from Leiden University. During my studies, I completed three research internships, including one at Aberystwyth University in Wales.
In 2014, I began my PhD at the Medical Microbiology department of the University Medical Center Utrecht. After four and a half years of research, I successfully defended my thesis titled "The Art of Phospholipase A2-IIA" in March 2019.
Following my PhD, I moved to China in July 2019 to work as a postdoctoral researcher with Professor Hu's group at the Institute for Immunology of Tsinghua University. My research focused on the interactions between oral and intestinal biofilms and host cells.
I describe myself as an adventurous and easy-going person, qualities that help me adapt to new situations with ease. Additionally, I am a fast learner. My PhD journey and international work experiences have shaped me into an independent, results-oriented team player.
